Washington Capitals NHL 2013-2014 Regular Season Countdown: 4 Day Countdown

In part two of my season preview for the Washington Capitals, here are my haikus for the forward core for the Capitals.  I’ve taken the liberty of putting together my best guesses for the forward lines as there are many options once you hit the third and fourth lines.

Marcus Johansson

Got a bridge contract
will he score more goals this year?
If not, cut him loose.

Nicklas Backstrom

Most important Cap?
Please stay healthy, avoid hits.
And score some goals please?

Alex Ovechkin

The phoenix rises
Won the Hart and the Rocket
Team awards matter most.

Martin Erat

Hard-working, gritty
Adds a defensive factor
Worth Filip Forsberg?

Mikhail Grabovski

Best signing this year
Stabilized the second line
Scoring playmaker

Troy Brouwer

What to make of him?
Underrated, overrated?
Depends on viewpoint

Brooks Laich

Injured hip right now
More injury prone than Fehr?
But too much money

Mathieu Perrault

Feisty, undersized
He produced well last season
Can he keep it up?

Eric Fehr

A personal fav
How many goals will he score?
I say twenty goals.

Joel Ward

Rough, tough, and  grinder
Too expensive for my taste
Possible trade bait?

Jay Beagle

Blocks shot like a boss
Would take a bullet for team
Great defensive guy

Jason Chimera

Fast, speedy, poor hands
Stop shooting from the left circle!
Goalie always gloves…
