Tonight the Washington Capitals take on the New York Islanders at 7:00 PM. The game will be played at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. – this will be the first meeting between the two teams as Metropolitan division opponents. Game coverage is on CSN-DC, and of course for out-of-town fans there is NHL Center Ice and NHL GameCenter Live.

It is still relatively early in the season for both teams, as we have just entered into the 2nd month of a 6.5 month season. Both teams have played 14 games so far this season, and have similar records – the NYI are 6-5-3 with 15 points, and the Caps are 7-7 with 14 points. As part of our pre-game report, this post will take a look at players from each team who are going into tonight’s game hot or cold.
