The Washington Capitals improved their record to 8-7 after winning against the New York Islanders. Two previous wins in November, as well as their most recent win, has propelled Washington into second place in the Metropolitan division – now only trailing the Pittsburgh Penguins by 6 points in the standings.

With the team above .500 for the first time this season, it’s a great time to take a look at their progress, and hand out a grade for their overall performance so far. Breaking the teams performance into specific categories will help determine a final grade: Offense, Defense, Goaltending, and Special Teams.
