Washington Capitals

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

While they Washington Capitals are notorious for their slow starts, they certainly kicked off the  month of November with a bang. A 7-0 road win over the struggling Philadelphia Flyers was the first of four straight wins and should have boosted the Capitals’ confidence, especially given that they played without Alex Ovechkin. While the final score wasn’t quite so telling, the chaos of the game itself would foreshadow the weeks to come.

The Caps strung together 9 wins in 15 games, but of those wins, 6 came in either overtime or a shootout–meaning the other team took home a point. Not very reassuring. Why can’t these games be finished in regulation? We all have our own theories, and I’m going to examine some of the good and bad behind the Caps’ tumultuous November.
