Who Was The Washington Capitals’ Best Player?

Washington Capitals

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight’s game was a memorable one for the Washington Capitals, from posting their second (regulation) win of 2014. Last night’s effort against the Tampa Bay Lightning allowed the Caps to assert themselves, while tonight’s win helped the team boost confidence. The Caps are back in a playoff position–and they can attribute a lot of that success to Michal Neuvirth’s phenomenal performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It’s hard to remember a better home game than the one played in Washington tonight. While the Capitals failed to score on their four power play opportunities, they played (mostly) strong defense, scored three even-strength goals, narrowly outshot the Leafs 35-34, and didn’t allow any quick response goals.

The team finally played like the powerhouse it is. The Caps’ effort as a whole was incredible, but stellar individual player performances contributed to the much-needed win, too. From Neuvirth’s superb goaltending to Alex Ovechkin’s physical play, which Capitals player gave the best performance tonight? Have your say.
