Ovi and Beagle? & the Ultimate Grind

A lot of Capitals fans are not to happy about the recent line pairings that will be debuted in tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks and some have started calling for Coach Adam Oates head.  This move may seem to be a risky one for Coach Oates reputation if it fails, if it succeeds it may help with the ultimate goal of making a playoff run this season.  It sends a message to the team that the ultimate grind of the season and this stretch of games needs to be played on both sides of the puck.  In a stretch of road games against 3 of the best teams in the league defense and goal tending will play a large part, as giving up anything more than 2 goals will end in certain defeat.

Also lets not forget the Ovi and Beagle pairing is out of necessity due to the possible season ending injury to Brooks Laich and the continued ankle issues of Mikhail Grabovski.  Injuries have played a huge part in this season and has forced a young coaching staff to try new things, some of which that have not worked, but a playoff spot is within grasp and trying to send the message of the on going grind to the players may not be the worst thing.
