Washington Capitals Announce Development Camp Dates, Cancel Caps Convention

The Washington Capitals have announced the dates of two important summer events. Development Camp, where fans will get to see Capitals prospects in action, will be from July 7th to the 12th at Kettler Ice Complex in Arlington, Virginia. On Saturday the 12th, at Kettler, the Washington Capitals Fan Fest will be taking place.

At the fan fest, there will be various events. Some of them include an equipment sale and autograph sessions with Capitals prospects. In years past, there has been an open skate available to the public available, but that has yet to be confirmed for this year. More events will be scheduled, and the schedule should be published in the coming weeks. The roster of players attending should be available soon as well.

With this exciting news comes some disappointing news. Due to the Washington Capitals hosting a Winter Classic game this season, the Capitals have decided to postpone their annual Caps Convention. They have decided to focus all of their attention on the Winter Classic game instead of the Caps Convention.

“This season we are thrilled to be hosting the 2015 Bridgestone Winter Classic on Jan. 1, 2015, and have many exciting events and experiences planned around the event to help celebrate our fabulous fan base. Due to this big event, we will be focusing all of our efforts on the Winter Classic and will not hold a Caps Convention.” – Director of Communications Sergey Kocharov

With the NHL draft coming up later this month, and free agency starting on July 1st, it’s an exciting time of year to be a fan of the Washington Capitals!
