Tom Wilson Suffers Ankle Injury, Should Be Back During Training Camp

The 6’4″, 2012 1st round draft pick, beast and beauty of a hockey player that is Tom Wilson, has taken a tumble. According to Caps Senior Writer Mike Vogel, Wilson suffered an ankle injury while with friends in Ontatio. The extent and severity of the injury is not yet known, but the Caps doctors are in contact with Wilson and are monitoring the situation. We should get an estimated time period in the near future.

Obviously, losing Wilson to an injury would be a blow to the Caps already weakened offense since the departure of Mikhail Grabovski. However, right wing is the one position the Caps have some true and stellar depth in Troy Brouwer, Eric Fehr (who has experience as a center), Joel Ward, and none other than Alexander Ovechkin, who could possibly be shifting over to left wing.

During the Caps development camp, new head Coach Barry Trotz expressed his optimism on the situation saying, “Right now, basically we want to get a little more information, but it looks like he’ll be ready for training camp, or be coming into that part of training camp. Right now, I have him in training camp.”

While we do not know much about the injury, besides the fact that it was a “fall,” we wish Willy-Baby a speedy recovery and a quick return to rocking the red!

—-UPDATE 7/9/2014—-

Per a Caps spokesperson and Washington Post’s Alex Prewitt, doctors estimate that Wilson will be back to action sometime during training camp.
