Philipp Grubauer's New Helmet is Awesome

Even with the new addition of Goaltender Justin Peters, Philipp Grubauer still has NHL aspirations.

Grubauer, who made his NHL debut last season during the chaotic goalie situation last year, will most likely be the starting goalie for the Hershey Bears next season. However, that didn’t stop Grubi from turning to Dave Gunnarsson for a new mask. Gunnarsson, the creator of Daveart.com designs, has designed the masks of several other NHL goalies, such as Henrik Lundqvist, ex-Cap Michal Neuvirth, and current Cap Braden Holtby! You can find those designs by roaming around the daveart.com website.

Below you can see a picture of Grubi’s new and improved mask design. If I say so myself, it’s pretty spectacular.

Could Grubi be making a statement by having a mask design that would go with a Capitals jersey much better than it would with a Bears jersey? After all, the 22 year old German born Goaltender has proved he can compete at an NHL level. If you ask me, I think he can become a reliable NHL backup within the next two to four years. Hopefully he will still be in a Caps sweater when that happens.
