The Washington Capitals have drafted well in the past five years giving them them a strong group of prospects despite usually drafting in the bottom half of the draft. The Caps European scouts in particular have been amongst the best in the NHL.

Over the past decade the Caps have developed a core around Alex Ovechkin, Niklas Backstrom, Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Braden Holtby, and Marcus Johansson. Here we take a look at the next wave of Capitals set to make an impact.
