Happy Monday everybody. Here’s today’s news and links about the Washington Capitals!

Trotz’s discoveries have given him an indication as to why the Washington Capitals failed to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. “It was pretty consistent,” Trotz told NHL.com. “They would say, ‘Don’t let them score on the rush. Don’t let their forwards freewheel. Take away time and space. They don’t do much around the net. They’re not very physical. They don’t block shots.’ It was good information, and now I’ve got to get it changed. I know I can.” – NHL.com

The key to rescuing the Capitals and getting them back to a strong Playoff team lies with Ovi, Trotz will need to light a fire under him, and make him see the value in helping out a bit more deep in the Capitals zone. If Trotz and Ovi can learn to live with each other’s short falls, or at the very least learn how to manage each other I believe this pair could bring the Capitals near the top of the NHL. – Too Many Men On The Site

(Talking about his injury) “You’re just fearful of any sort of acceleration, fearful of any turn, fearful of engaging in any contact because you know there’s an extreme amount of pain coming your way if you do that,” Laich said. “It’s a very difficult way to live. It’s a very difficult way to participate, let alone try to excel at the sport. What I feel is the last two years have been trying to survive that day in order to be on the ice the next day as well. That’s not productive.” – NHL.com

  • Meet the new bosses… not the same as the old bosses. At least the new bosses hope that’s the case. Also, thoughts on the forward lines. (NHL.com)
