Washington Capitals Clicks: ALS, Don Cherry

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Here are your daily links for you Washington Capitals.

The Washington Captials started off yesterday by taking the plunge to raise money and awareness for ALS.  What is ALS? ALS is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. 40 years ago, the Washington Capitals were just getting their feet under them. The time is the late-70s. Washington had one difficult task at hand, break a 0-26 streak that they had racked up against the Boston Bruins.  After the 18th consecutive loss, Don Cherry made a couple of marks that could live on forever. Hockey is just around the corner, and with that Fantasy Hockey and EA Sports NHL 15 comes as well.  EA Sports has released their top 50 players for the NHL 15 game that will be coming out soon.  This could also be a good starting point for your top 50 for your fantasy draft. [Pro Hockey Talk]

With training camp coming up soon, talk of prospects cracking the line-ups is starting to get more prevalent.  For the Washington Capitals, it is more looking at the other teams and who could be making a name for themselves or at least had their father make a name for themselves.  The Bourque Brothers, yes, sons of Ray Bourque are looking to both make the New York Rangers Roster.  Could the Capitals be playing against two Bourques? If you haven’t been paying much attention or just missed it, the Peerless Prognosticator has been putting together their All Washington Teams by going through the Alphabet.  Here is their Team K for the Captials. [Peerless Prognosticator]

The Washington Capitals are still looking to find a 2nd line center.  From the looks of it, it may come from in-house.  There is also a rumor that the Capitals have expressed interest in the Phoenix Coyotes enforcer of 5 years, Paul Bissonnette.  Other teams are reported to be interested as well, but could Bissonnette free up Tom Wilson as the 4th line enforcer and move up a line?
