The Hersey Bears signed former Washington Capitals 2008 draft pick Joel Broda.  Broda was drafted by the Washington Capitals back in 2008 and participated in development camps with them but never signed a contract with them.  He has been playing in the AHL consistently since then and will join the Capitals affiliate but will not be the property of the Capitals, but be back in the eyes of his former drafting team.  [Pennlive.com]

The trick that everyone tries to accomplish within any sports draft is to find the diamond in the rough.  Those late round picks that turn out to be the franchises top player, one to lead them to the promise land.  The Washington Capitals have a couple of blue chippers in their prospect pool such as Andre Burakovsky and have such youngsters in their line up with Evgeny Kuznetsov.  How is under the radar in Washington that could surprise in a year or two that maybe is not as well known as some of the other top draft picks.
