Washington Capitals Have Nine Players in NHL.com's Top 275 Fantasy Hockey Rankings

It’s early September, which means you are most likely focused on two things: fantasy hockey and real hockey. While you are planning out which players you want on your fantasy team(s), NHL.com released their list of the 275 overall fantasy rankings in the league. The Washington Capitals landed nine players on the list, listed below.

The first six people on the list are most likely who the Caps will have on the ice at any given point during a power play, probably with the exception of Niskanen. That just goes to show how much influence the powerplay, especially one of the best in the league, has on a player’s ranking.

The biggest shock on this list, in my opinion, is the lack of Joel Ward. Wardo is coming off a career season, with 49 points (24 G, 25 A), tallying 14 more points than he has any other season in his career. In comparison, former-Cap Mike Ribeiro received 187 on the list. Yes, you read that correctly. It is a disgrace to even use Wardo and Ribeiro’s name in the same sentence, let alone give Ribeiro a spot on the list over Ward. This, in my eyes, is a complete slap in the face to Ward. He deserves a spot on that list more than about a quarter of the guys on there. He’ll just have to prove them wrong this upcoming season, won’t he.

What do YOU think? Any Caps missing who you think should be on the list who is not? Is anyone overrated? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
