The Washington Capitals have scored seven goals in two straight games.

Despite having a their nine-game win streak snapped Monday night in Pittsburgh, the Washington  Capitals are still one of the hottest teams in the NHL. With 25 goals in four games, including seven in each of the last two, the Capitals are firing on all cylinders on offense.

Washington has been getting boring from everywhere, including the defensemen. Star winger Alexander Ovechkin has not scored a goal in the last four games, but that hasn’t slowed down the Caps. Washington finally has the depth this season that could carry it on a run through the post season.

As for Saturday’s game in Dallas, the Caps will look to start a new winning streak. They are 9-0-1 in the last 10 games and 12-4-5 on the road.

Several Capitals are riding recent hot streaks.

Nicklas Backstrom has an eight-game point streak, Justin Williams and Andre Burakovsky are both on three-game goal streaks, T.J. Oshie has a goal in each of his last two games and Jay Beagle has three goals in the last four games.

Starting goalie Braden Holtby is likely to get the night off, meaning that back up Philipp Grubauer will get the nod between the pipes. Grubauer took the loss against Pittsburgh Monday after entering the game in relief of Holtby but had won his previous six starts.

The Caps have great balance this year, ranking first in goals allowed and fifth in goals scored per game.

Dallas enters the game with just three win in the last nine games. After being a top offensive team last year, the Stars have struggled to put pucks in the net this season. Also, goalie play has been a big problem. Neither Kari Lehtonen or Anti Niemi have been very consistent.

Washington currently sits atop the Eastern Conference with the most points in the NHL. Saturday will be the first of two meetings this year between the Stars and the Caps.
