The Washington Capitals’ schedule is starting to get released. Here’s what we know so far.

It’s never to early to start thinking about the 2017-18 NHL season. Even with some offseason changes, the Washington Capitals should be extremely competitive. The schedule is slowly starting to get leaked as we’re just a few months away from the season’s start.

First things first. The Capitals are going to open on the road to start the season. And they’ll be playing the Ottawa Senators. This game will be on Thursday, October 5. So after a late start to last season due to the World Cup of Hockey, the league is going back to its regular early October start.

The Caps went 2-1-0 against the Senators during the 2016-17 regular season, so it should be an excellent game. Fans can also pencil in the home opener, which will take place on Saturday, October 7. And the opponents will be a familiar one – the Montreal Canadiens.

So the Capitals will start their season against two Canadian teams from the Atlantic Division. Both of whom made the postseason last year. This should give the Capitals a good challenge early in the season. The game against Montreal should be an excellent one. Pencil in Lars Eller to have a great game against them because he sure loved playing against his old team last season. He played with a fire in his belly against them.
