The Washington Capitals return home to face the Anaheim Ducks in a Monday night matchup.

The last time the Washington Capitals were at home, they played one of their worst games of the season in a 5-2 defeat to the Montreal Canadiens. The next night, the Capitals responded with a 3-2 shootout win over the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins to end their busy week on a high note.

The Capitals were trailing much of the game Saturday until T.J. Oshie broke through with under a minute to go to tie the game. It was a huge goal with Jaroslav Halak once again stonewalling Washington’s offense making save after save.

Oshie’s goal was huge to tie the game and Jakub Vrana‘s game-winner in the shootout ensured the Capitals would leave Beantown with a pair of points.

The Capitals will look to avenge one home loss last season they’d like to have back. On Dec. 2nd, the Caps had a 5-1 lead to the Anaheim Ducks before the visitors rallied for a 6-5 win.

The Capitals have gone to overtime 10 times in their first 22 games of the season including seven of their last 11 games. Whether this one finishes in regulation or not, the Capitals would like to come out with two points in front of their home fans after Friday’s debacle.
