Washington Capitals fans are the best fans in hockey. Of course, we all know that.

On Tuesday morning, FanSided released their “FanSided 250” list ranking the hottest fandoms in the country across sports and entertainment. Rightfully, the Capitals made it onto the list.

Keep in mind this list include teams from other sports and other high profile athletes and celebrities. The Capitals were ranked 127th.

As far as teams in the NHL go, the Capitals were ranked fifth behind the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and St. Louis Blues. Can’t complain too much about this list with no other Metropolitan Division teams being ranked ahead of the Caps.

FanSided complied this list using the following: Fan Vote, Search Score and Social Follows. The Capitals earned a fan vote of 65, their search score came out to be 60.6 and the team has 2.3 million social follows.

Under each team is a buzz moment. For the Capitals it said the following:

"The Washington Capitals and their fans had their championship moment in 2018, but the team could not resist partying with the Washington Nationals during their World Series victory tour. Alex Ovechkin and Ryan Zimmerman’s budding friendship is a wholesome reminder of the good in this world."

There’s definitely a difference in the area overall ever since the Caps won the Stanley Cup in 2018. It helped start a trend of winning and winning big.

Just over a year after Alex Ovechkin skated around the ice with the Stanley Cup, the Mystics won the WNBA championship while the Nationals won the World Series.

One day after the Nats praded around town the baseball team was recognized when the Capitals hosted the Calgary Flames. After the game the Capitals and Nationals partied in the locker room and sang “We are the champions” in unison. Now that is what I call a sports town.
