The Washington Capitals look to bounce back.

The Washington Capitals and New York Islanders meet again in Game 2 this time giving the fans the primetime night game treatment on Friday night.

The Caps want nothing more than redemption after squandering a 2-0 lead only to lose Game 1.

The Caps will face some challenges entering Game 2 and it’s not just from trailing in the series.

Nicklas Backstrom is ruled out and in concussion protocol. They’ll be counting on Lars Eller to fill in that role after he missed Game 1 for the birth of his son. And he’s done well filling in that very role.

Over the last four seasons Nicklas Backstrom or Evgeny Kuznetsov missed 30 total games. In those games Eller recorded 22 points with four goals and 18 assists. It is a challenge he’s up for.

“I love when those challenges happen. I don’t change the way I think about the game or the way I prepare myself. It will basically mean I will be playing more minutes probably than I otherwise would. My mentality is the same, trying to go out there and play a strong two-way game and create offense on every shift. It will be more minutes basically but I will play the game the exact same way. And I had a very good experience playing with (T.J. Oshie) and (Jakub Vrana) in the past,” Eller told the media.
