2014 first round pick Jakub Vrana highlights the Washington Capitals rookie tournament roster.

The Washington Capitals have announced their 23 man roster for the Estero Rookie Tournament. The tournament will take place from September 12th to September 15th in Estero, Florida. More from the Washington Capitals press release

The Washington Capitals will compete in the four-team rookie tournament, to be held at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida, from Sept. 12-15. The rookie tournament will also feature top prospects from the Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning, who will host the event. Capitals’ prospects will face each of the three other participating teams once during the round-robin tournament.

The Capitals’ rookie tournament roster includes prospects who are under contract and recent Capitals draft picks who have not been signed yet. In addition, several undrafted and free agent amateur players will participate.

All Capitals games will be broadcast live and will be available on Monumental Network and WashingtonCaps.com. In addition, all games can be heard on the new 24-hour radio channel, Caps Radio 24/7, devoted specially to the Capitals and NHL.

The Washington Capitals will play at 3:00 PM EST on Saturday the 12th (against Florida), 7:00 PM on Sunday (against Tampa Bay), and 10:00 AM on Tuesday the 15th (against Nashville). Their roster will be composed of the following players.

There are some exciting players to watch on this roster. The four obvious names that jump out at me are Riley Barber, Jakub Vrana, Jonas Siegenthaler and Madison Bowey. I expect Barber to dominate considering he has three years of college hockey experience over most of the other participants. Bowey should dominate as well since he’s already dominated the WHL for several years. I’m curious to see how Vrana and Siegenthaler do, considering neither of the two have spent much time in North America. Look for Vanecek to have a strong tournament as he’s looking to prove himself to the Washington Capitals.
