Washington Capitals forward Wilson sent Bruins defenseman Miller’s helmet soaring during a first-period fight of their preseason game.

Tom Wilson is known around the NHL as not being afraid to drop the gloves. He has 26 fights through his first two NHL seasons. Wilson has been trying this offseason and preseason to be more than just an enforcer. Caps head coach Barry Trotz told him to tone it down against the New York Islanders earlier in the preseason.

Wilson has been trying to get more ice time during this preseason as he has stayed out the penalty box. He has tallied a goal and an assist during the preseason thus far. He will likely be seeing third line time should he produce more and be in the penalty box less.

He proved that he’s still got that fighting spirit in him tonight when he got in a fight against Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller. Let’s just say it didn’t end too well for Miller.

Credit Boston Pucks for that Vine. Wilson pretty much sent that helmet into orbit. May that serve as a lesson to anyone who thinks about challenging the young Wilson. Here’s a video of the whole fight.
