Washington Capitals: Top 3 players not worth trading for
#2 Jack Eichel
The Caps placing Richard Panik on waivers means there is now an opening for a spot on the bottom six forward depth chart. Even so, the Caps shouldn’t go after the Buffalo Sabres star. Getting Jack Eichel will come at a price, a price too steep to pay for the Caps liking.
The Caps would likely have to part ways with one of their two young stud goaltenders, one of their centers, and even a top draft pick like Connor McMichael. If I were general manager Brian MacLellan I would simply say no to such a ridiculous offer.
Some fans think the team should part was with Evgeny Kuznetsov. After his recent production, I wouldn’t do anything with him. In fact if he keeps it up I would protect him in the upcoming Seattle expansion draft.
Another reason Eichel won’t work is he’ll count $10 million against the cap for the next five seasons. The Caps need that 10 million to try to extend Alex Ovechkin so he retires as a Washington Capital. So there’s no reason I see them pulling off a trade such as this.
Those are two forwards, the last player we’ll profile will be a goaltender.
