#2 Zdeno Chara

Things were weird in 2020 but one of the weirdest ways to end the year was when the Capitals signed Zdeno Chara. Now the former Bruin takes on his old club and he knows a thing or two about them.

Chara spent 14 seasons in Boston. He knows everything about them. Everything from Brad Marchand to David Pastrnak to their code plays. Marchand admitted it to the media and head coach Peter Laviolette has received intel from Big Zee.

Laviolette said via Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic (subscription required):

"“You’re right about his knowledge of the Bruins and possibly some systems. And possibly some player detail. You often talk to players who played for a team that you’re facing in the playoffs for a little more information. He should be a good resource for us.”"

Chara won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011 and will become the seventh player in NHL history to appear in a playoff game at age 44 or older. Chara will follow Gordie Howe, Chris Chelios, Johnny Bower, Lester Patrick, Jackques Plante, and Jaromir Jagr. Chelios, Howe, and Jagr each registered points while the others were goaltenders including Patrick who traded his duties as New York Rangers coach to play in net for one playoff game.

Chara will look to bring his winning experience from the Bruins to this Caps team and look to repeat or do better than the success he had in Boston.
