Washington Capitals center Jay Beagle brought a special guest with him to practice on Tuesday: his 19-month-old son Brandt, who skated with him!

Washington Capitals center Jay Beagle is a family man. He and his wife Ashley have a 19-month-old son named Brandt. On Tuesday, Jay and Ashley decided to bring Brandt to Kettler for practice. The Beagles happened to have a pair of skates on them that fit Brandt. They were the same pair of skates that Jay used to learn how to skate. Beagle bonded with his son and continued a Beagle family tradition by teaching his son how to skate.

Brandt has some real skills there. Who knows, he might join his dad and play in the NHL. It’s great to see that Jay Beagle is not only a good player on the ice but that he also has his priorities straight. I’m not sure who’s happier to be on the ice – Jay or Brandt. It’s close, but I think Jay actually wins that competition.

From CSN Mid-Atlantic:

"Brandt showed quite a knack for the puck, he’s a left handed shot and was even stickhandling- at 19 months!  Ashley took pictures while Jay’s mom (in town from Calgary) got to see the future hockey star at work.  They spent about 10 minutes on the ice, taking turns between shooting a puck, and Jay skating with Brandt.  When it was time get off the ice, Brandt was definitely not happy about it and continued his hockey clinic in the dressing room in his sneakers!"

Beagle is looking to build on his career season in 2014-2015 when he had 20 points in 62 games. The third line center was signed to a three-year deal this offseason and has seven points in 20 games so far this season. He has three goals and four assists. His 59.1 face-off win percentage is among the NHL’s best.
