Justin Williams got a speeding ticket after returning home from Game 6.

The Washington Capitals are a popular team in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. One would think they’d get recognized by the police. Apparently, a Virginia police officer doesn’t know who Justin Williams is because he got a speeding ticket. Come on, you don’t give a speeding ticket to Mr. Game 7.

More from Stars and Sticks

To be fair to Williams, who among us hasn’t gotten a speeding ticket in Virginia? Virginia cops are notorious for being very strict about the speed limit. Williams found this out the hard way and will have to pay a price for his sin.

Maybe he was trying to get home fast to get some sleep. Hockey players spend so much time away from their families, which can be very tough for everyone involved. No one knows when Williams got his speeding ticket, but he seems to imply he got it after the flight back from Game 6. He also might have had it waiting for him in the mail when he got home.

It doesn’t seem like Williams will be in any trouble over this. We all make mistakes when driving. But man, anytime you make one while driving in Virginia, the cops seem to be right there to see it. That’s impressive dedication to their work. Williams has a $3.25 million salary this year, so he should be set to pay the ticket. It appears he drives as fast as he skates. Let’s hope Williams only speeds on the ice from here on out!
