Everybody is fired up for the Game of Thrones series finale. Before the world watches and talks about it tomorrow, we’ve made our own small council.

There are a few dedicated sites to the Game of Thrones series on FanSided and you can even make your own small council here. The Washington Capitals season may be over but there will certainly be a ton of fans, players, coaches tuning in to the show.

Even the Capitals beat reporters came together on NBC Sports Washington’s Capitals Talk podcast to do a nearly 50-minute long episode dedicated to talking about the show.

Inspired by the small council builder tool, we’ve built our own small council. Which players would you pick for yours?

Grand Maester: Brooks Orpik

Qualities: Book smart, street smart, hands-on, optimist

Brooks Orpik has been around the game for a long time and he’s not only seen hockey on the side of the Capitals but even with the enemies from Pittsburgh as well. That is why he is also street smart in addition to book smart. Orpik is a popular presence in the locker room and always was there to be a leader. Orpik brought his Stanley Cup winning experience from the Penguins into the Capitals locker room. It was fitting that it was his goal that would be the game-winner to jumpstart the Capitals on their four wins toward glory.

Hand of the King/Queen: Alex Ovechkin

Qualities: Realist, selfless, action is important

Alex Ovechkin has been “the guy” in Washington since coming to the league in 2005. He’s been the Capitals’ most trusted ally. He helped make Washington, D.C. into a hockey town and has helped captain many great Capitals teams for the last 11 years.

Master of Coin: Nicklas Backstrom

Qualities: Sticks to their guns, knowledge is power, expensive taste

WASHINGTON, DC – APRIL 20: Nicklas Backstrom #19 of the Washington Capitals and Aleksi Saarela #15 of the Carolina Hurricanes skate after the puck in the first period in Game Five of the Eastern Conference First Round during the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Capital One Arena on April 20, 2019 in Washington, DC. Nicklas Backstrom is, in my opinion, one of the slickest and cunning centers in the league. You can put him on any line and he will make his line mates better. His skillset is so unique and unnoticed because of the attention surrounding the Hand of the King/Queen: Alex Ovechkin.

Master of Whisperers: Jakub Vrana

Qualities: Romantic, extrovert, respects authority

Jakub Vrana is one of those players that’s a hit with all the girls which is the romantic quality but don’t let that distract you from the real reason he’s effective on the Capitals small council. They don’t call him Jake the Snake for nothing. His speed is what will get you. He has a knack for making the enemy pay.

Lord Commander of the Kingsguard: Tom Wilson

Qualities: Brave, let’s all work together, fights with swords

WASHINGTON, DC – APRIL 20: Tom Wilson #43 of the Washington Capitals looks on against the Carolina Hurricanes in the first period in Game Five of the Eastern Conference First Round during the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Capital One Arena on April 20, 2019 in Washington, DC. The man tasked with protecting the king and queen is Tom Wilson, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for the Capitals small council. Wilson will step into the ring whenever a fellow teammate is in trouble in battle. He’ll hit anything coming his way but even though he

may look mean to the enemies, he’s one heck of an ally. Plus, he can pack a scoring punch.
