The Washington Capitals make their third stop of the five-game road trip tonight in Edmonton.

Tonight’s matchup should be fun if you like high-scoring offensive hockey. John Carlson of the Washington Capitals vs. Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

Nope that isn’t a typo. It’s Carlson, not Alex Ovechkin, who leads the NHL in points with 20 while McDavid is tied for second in the league with 17.

The Capitals and Oilers come into Thursday night’s game with nearly identical records. The Capitals a 7-2-2 record and they go for their fifth win in a row. op the leaderboard with five goals and 12 assists including two in Tuesday night’s win over the Calgary Flames. The new alternate captain will additionally suit up in his 700th career NHL game, becoming the third defenseman and 11th player in franchise history to play in 700 games.

Another milestone to keep an eye on is Nicklas Backstrom‘s career assists. He needs just one more for 250 after recording an assist the other night in Calgary.
