Washington Capitals select Hendrix Lapierre: Twitter reacts
Washington Capitals fans react to Hendrix Lapierre.
Washington Capitals fans were buzzing all night long as news story after news story dropped. First we learned Michal Kempny suffered a severe injury. Then we found out that the team re-signed Brenden Dillon which they absolutely should have done. Then came a trade up and all of a sudden the Caps were on the clock. They used their new 22nd pick to select Hendrix Lapierre.
First let’s break this down into two parts. The first part being twitter reactions to the Capitals trading up.
As soon as the Caps tweeted they were trading up fans got a feeling it was to trade up for Lapierre or Jacob Perrault. For the most part the reaction and the pulse on Twitter was all positive when the Caps traded up with the Calgary Flames.

The best tweet under that came from @Jack58Tr where he said, “Lapierre let’s go we’re wining ourselves some Cups for the future with all the steals we’re getting.”
When the Caps made it official by tweeting their selection, fans naturally approved. @StephCondor said, “Steal of the draft at rank 22 great pick, he’s gone develop amazingly cheers from Montreal.”
@RecklessKelly77 said, “Atta boy Mac! ‘Injuries’ have sorta been debunked. He’s gonna be fine! In which case; we just got a #8 pick at 22! Mac, ya did it again! We win! Love it! Go Capitals!”
@KrimsonVnm said, “We had a pretty solid Hendri(cks) here some time ago (referring to Matt Henrdricks). I think Lapierre will be alright.”
@rg0674 said, “If Caps management believes he can fully recover and plus he is a young guy then I think we have ourselves a winner.”
@BillKoti had optimism surrounding the pick. “I have a good feeling about this young man. He is going to overcome the concussions and be a star.”
@ChristianAbert3 said, “We have no reason to rush him, let him get bigger. Get healthy. Could be a top 10 player if he was healthy… could be the steal of the draft hope he stays healthy!”
@mlubey said, “Sometimes you have to take risks that could have a big potential payoff or you’re doomed to consistent mediocrity. I love the pick honestly.”
Overall there wasn’t anything negative to say about the new draft pick and fans are optimistic he can become the next generation of a superstar. We’ll see him one day on the team and we can’t wait.
