The Washington Capitals have won six in a row and 10 of their last 11. Their latest win came Tuesday night against the New York Islanders in a thrilling 3-1 win. After a dismal first period, the Caps turned it on in the final 40 minutes and Ilya Samsonov had one of his best starts.

The Caps would go up 1-0 with a goal from T.J. Oshie. Alex Ovechkin would double their lead with a power play goal that climbed him up the scoring ladder. The scoring on the home side was capped off by Nicklas Backstrom and both Ovi and Nicky are tied with the team lead in goals.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 studs from the game.

#3 T.J. Oshie

T.J. Oshie would put the Caps up 1-0 with a goal with 9:24 left in the second period on some nice clean up work. Evgeny Kuznetsov put together the nice stick work but couldn’t finish as his shot rang off the post. Oshie was there at the right place at the right time to rebound it home.

It was Oshie’s seventh goal of the season and he’s starting to heat up with five points in his last six games with two goals and three assists.
