Washington Capitals Development Camp is coming back and just like the good old days sessions will be free and open to the public at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. This year though, there’s a twist.

The Caps announced that on the final day of Development Camp the team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at Capital One Arena. That event will also be free but you’ll be required to RSVP. It’ll take place on Friday July 15 with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the scrimmage itself starting an hour later.

In addition to watching the future Caps on the ice, if you’re interested in purchasing season tickets you can test drive the season ticket locations as part of an open house. There will be closing incentives if you choose to purchase season tickets that night. You can RSVP at WashCaps.com/OpenHouse.

You can also have a chance to win prizes via a digital scratch off ticket in the arena. Once you enter, you’ll receive a digital scratch off ticket. Those prizes include bobbleheads, rally towels and other cool stuff.

In addition, there will be some select alumni taking pictures and signing autographs for fans and there’s even a photo op with those big CAPITALS letters and the Weagle on the concourse. There’s also going to be a photo booth.

Oh and here’s the best part, Biscuit will be there! That’s right there will be a meet and greet station where fans can interact with the Caps team dog and learn more about the America’s Vet Dogs program.

In addition, if you want to be a member of either the Caps Kids Club or Caps Canines, there will be tables with each fan club for the opportunity to sign up. If you can’t make it to Capital One Arena, you can watch a live stream of the scrimmage on the Monumental Sports Network and on the Capitals social media channels.

The entire Development Camp will run from July 11-15 and those sessions at the practice facility will also be open to the public. A full schedule and roster will be announced at a later date.

The 2022 NHL Draft begins July 7 with the first round on ESPN and rounds 2-7 the next day on NHL Network. Development Camp begins July 11 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
