1. Edmonton Oilers

148. The Oilers get yet another chance to rebuild. They get a generational talent in McDavid. Whether or not they “deserve” him is not relevant. The Oilers new front office gets a nice welcoming present from the NHL. I’m glad McDavid will be in the Western Conference, far away from the Washington Capitals. I’ve been following prospects for the past ten years. He’s the best prospect I’ve ever seen.. Center. Erie (OHL). Connor McDavid. 1. player

2. Buffalo Sabres

Center. Boston U (NCAA). Jack Eichel. 2. player. 12. One heck of a consolation prize for the Sabres. The Sabres are getting an extremely talented center who is ultra competitive and has a great work ethic. His leadership screams “future captain”. He ain’t McDavid, but he might just be the next best thing.

3. Arizona Coyotes

player. 121. The Coyotes draft an extremely talented playmaker. I love his intangibles – he stepped up his game big time when his teammate McDavid was out with an injury. And he was fine with taking the backseat to him. The Yotes now have an exciting future forward line that could feature Max Domi, Strome, and Anthony DuClair. If that doesn’t save hockey in Arizona, I don’t know what will.. Center. Erie (OHL). Dylan Strome. 3

4. Toronto Maple Leafs

5. Carolina Hurricanes

109. Hanifin shores up the Canes blue line long-term. Fleury (their 2014 first round pick) and Hanifin should give Carolina that top pair on their blue line that they have been looking for for a long time. As a Washington Capitals fan, that kind of scares me.. Defense. Boston C (NCAA). Noah Hanifin. 5. player
