The Washington Capitals defeated the New Jersey Devils 1-0  Thursday night, in what might have been the most boring game of the season.

Wow how electric was this game everyone!?!?!?

That’s a joke… clearly. This one had the capability to put ANYONE to sleep. Not much to recap here, just a simple 1-0 victory.

Braden Holtby recorded his league leading 8th shutout with a whopping 15 saves on Thursday. Yep, you read that right… the New Jersey Devils had 15 shots, electric.

A win is a win however, and Holtby agrees. He said after the game, “I don’t think we created too many hockey fans tonight, but we got a win.”

We said Zach Sanford was going to be around for a long time. He wasn’t. The man who replaced him, Jakob Vrana is taking advantage of his opportunity. Vrana broke the tie and scored the game-winning goal with 7:21 left in the final period.

In important news, the Washington Capitals recorded their franchise record 14th straight win at home (almost as many shots as the Devils last night).

The Devils lowest tally of shots before last night was 17.

Congrats to Corey Schneider for being able to be a Vezina contender practically every season when he’s on the Devils.

Kudos to him for managing to keep this game within one when his team only managed FIFTEEN SHOTS.

I can’t hammer it home hard enough. This game was like soccer on ice. It’s so rare to see such a low scoring game in today’s NHL, when the league has made it significantly easier to score.

Holtby also touched on the low-scoring, boring play of last night’s game, saying “It was more of a game that everyone thinks is out of the NHL. It was like going back in time.” You’re right Holtby, you’re absolutely right.

Well sorry if this wasn’t the greatest folks. The Capitals are back at it tomorrow against the Flyers. Hopefully that’ll be a better one.
