An artist has designed each NHL team, including the Washington Capitals, with a football style uniform. How do the Caps look?
Hockey sweaters have a proud tradition of being the best looking uniforms in all of sports. The Washington Capitals are a part of this proud tradition, as everyone loves their jerseys. Whether it’s their home, away or alternate sweaters, the Caps rank among the best looking teams in the NHL.
Jimmy Nutini is a creative mind who combined his love of hockey with his appreciation for NFL jerseys. He designed a home and away look for each NHL team. All of them are very well done. You can pick out some of the subtle details and they’re great. For example, the Montreal Canadiens traditionally have a huge C and a little H as their logo. Nutini changes it slightly to a huge C and little F. Here’s his design for the Washington Capitals.

This is a very nice look for the Caps. It looks a bit like the Atlanta Falcons uniforms. To be fair, the two teams have extremely similar color schemes, so it’s natural their uniforms look similar. Their away jerseys have a hint of Maryland Terrapins (pre Under Armour) in them. The red looks fantastic on a football jersey. It’s only a matter of time before someone creates Color Rush uniforms for each NHL team.
Some of the best uniforms he designed include the Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators. One wouldn’t usually think the Preds would look go as a football jersey, but the gold looks amazing as a primary color. Their navy blue complements it very nicely.

Overall, Nutini does a very good job with these designs. It’s a very interesting concept and he spent a ton of time on his product. And it definitely shows.
