Washington Capitals reveal new Adidas jersey
The Washington Capitals’ new Adidas jerseys have been revealed. And they are going to look extremely familiar to most fans.
Adidas has a new deal to design all of the NHL’s sweaters. This includes the Washington Capitals. Starting in the 2017-18 season, teams will have Adidas designed jerseys. The NHL gave a sneak peak of the new jerseys on Tuesday night. Most teams didn’t see much of a change in their uniforms, and the Capitals are no different.

There are some extremely subtle changes. Most notably, they have the infamous Adidas stripes. However, the Capitals aren’t getting a jersey overhaul. And they weren’t ever going to get one.

“Specifically created for elite performance, we’ve designed the ADIZERO Authentic NHL jerseys to deliver advanced innovation and technical design for the world’s best hockey players,” said Dan Near, Head of adidas Hockey, via NHL.com. “We build products for the creator athlete. Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we look forward to making our on-ice debut this season with the new Lighter, Cooler, and Stronger adidas Hockey ADIZERO Authentic NHL jerseys.”
The biggest changes aren’t going to be seen. Rather, they will be felt by the players. For what it’s worth, the players loved the World Cup of Hockey uniforms. Specifically, they felt great and players felt the jerseys helped them play better.

However, why not go to the retro third jerseys? Those are incredible. Hopefully, the throwback third jerseys will come back soon. No team has an alternate jersey for the 2017-18 season, aside from teams who are having outdoor games. The third jerseys should make a return by the 2019-20 season.
