The Washington Capitals have a lot of traditions at their home games and one is hearing the National Anthem sung by either Caleb Green or Bob McDonald.
Master Sergeant Caleb Green is making Washington Capitals fans proud as his voice is being heard throughout the country on the NBC hit TV show America’s Got Talent.
Green is with the four-member veteran acapella group “Voices of Service” that was formed to provide music therapy to servicemen and women suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Back in June, Voices of Service won their audition round with their performance of Rise by Katy Perry.
The fellow judges Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough (Brooks Laich‘s wife!), Howie Mandell, and Gabrielle Union each gave a “yes” so the group could advance to the judge’s cut semifinals. Once again the four judges plus celebrity guest judge Jay Leno loved their performance and they once again got an unanimous yes to advance to the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday, Voices of Service gave a resounding rendition of Gavin DeGraw’s”Fire”.
DeGraw gave his approval on Twitter tweeting, “Wow. These brave men and women sound incredible! Very humbled and honored.”
The Voices of Service and Green made it through the live voting and on to the semifinals. That will take place on Tuesday September 3 and 10 with the results show following each day. If they bypass that round, they’ll have a chance to compete for $1-million and a headlining slot for AGT’s live show in Las Vegas.
The Voices of Service is one of 22 acts in this season’s America’s Got Talent competing for that one-million cash prize but Green’s ensemble is truly one of a kind.
Us Capitals fans are spoiled by it 41 times a year plus the playoffs, give or take, with either Green, McDonald or even both performing the Star Spangled Banner.
Now the entire world is getting to hear Green’s talented voice and be inspired by the heroes who sacrifice and protect our freedoms day after day.
Voices of Service, composed of Green as well as retired Starr Sergeant Ron Henry, Sergeant Major Christal Sanders Rheams and Sergeant First Class Jason L. Hannah. The group is a product of CAMMO which stands for Center for American Military Music Opportunities, an organization founded in 2009 that was “envisioned (for) the creation of a military music community that would focus the world on America’s most musically and technically talented service members”.
Stars and Sticks and Capitals fans everywhere are rooting for Caleb Green as well as the rest of the Voices of Service to bring it home on AGT!
