Alex Ovechkin is always must-see TV or a draw whenever he’s in town and this upcoming 2019-20 season will be no different. Ovechkin turns 34 when training camp is well underway and he’ll look for a 50-goal season for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.

Some think he can do it. Others cannot. But Ovechkin is simply a player you cannot bet against. Whether it’s a 50-goal season or chasing the great one in Wayne Gretzky, Ovechkin will be fun to watch and follow all season long.

It could be the last year of Ovechkin and Backstrom together if the Caps don’t extend the center. Will his numbers improve, stay the same or regress?

There isn’t a doubt with the summer training that Ovechkin is ready for the grind ahead. He eyes 700 career goals as well as other significant Caps milestones.

Another thing to keep an eye on with Ovechkin is whether he’ll be the same physical force he’s been throughout his career. 2,484 hits is no joke, especially over a 14-year career.

With two more years left on the 13-year deal, just like the previous slide, we got to enjoy the ride with Ovechkin while it lasts.
