The Washington Capitals are back on the road and look to bounce back from two overtime losses on Thursday night against the Nashville Predators.
It seemed like the Washington Capitals were going to cruise to at least a 3-0-0 start at best when they had a two-goal lead on Saturday night to the Carolina Hurricanes. Instead, the Canes rallied to win in overtime.
On Tuesday night, the Capitals played a tight, hard-fought game with the Dallas Stars. They had a 2-1 lead and despite letting it slip, Nicklas Backstrom came up clutch with a goal with 30.7 seconds left to force overtime. Less than a minute in, Tyler Seguin scored to give the Stars their first win of the season.
One thing the Capitals need to improve on is their power play. In their last two games, the Caps were unable to turn on the goal sirens on home ice in all 11 tries. Overall, they’ve converted just twice in 16 attempts.

The Capitals had a practice on Wednesday at MedStar before departing for Nashville. Dmitry Orlov left the ice early with a lower body injury and the team took him off as a precaution. Michal Kempny practiced but isn’t 100% ready for game action yet. Orlov will still play Thursday and the Caps will have just six defensemen available.
On the forward side, Evgeny Kuznetsov moved up to the second line while Lars Eller dropped to the third line. Kuznetsov is off to a good start this season and will look for even more success in the top six.
