Carl Hagelin

The Capitals came out in the third period ready to play and the first sign of life for the Capitals in that final period came on his goal to start the comeback. It was the third goal of the season and he’s scored in two straight games. It begs the question, has Carl Hagelin begun to heat up?

Hagelin glided towards the net and caught a slick pass from Richard Panik for the finish at 2:33. He finished with 17 shifts, a 33.3shot percentage on three shots in 12:15 of ice time.

A deeper dive into the advanced stats show Hagelin had a Corsi For percentage of 45 percent. Not bad. Three goals looks bad on the surface but Hagelin has had a good season thus far when it comes to advanced stats.

His Corsi For percentage so far is at 54.36 percent, his Fenwick For percentage is at 52.82 percent and his High Danger Chances for is at 45.11.

I think Carl Hagelin has started to heat up on the offensive side of things even though he’s more of a defensive oriented player and an important part of the penalty kill. It’ll be interesting to see if he continues his upward trend after break
