Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson ignited the comeback with a breakaway goal, putting together a nice deke backhander to tie the game at two. Nicklas Backstrom was credited with his 38th assist of the season and for Wilson it was his 20th goal. The goal came at 4-on-4 at 1:16.

Wilson admitted after the game that this was a game they had to grind out to earn the win. He told Harvey Valentine of NHL.com:

"“The only way to work through it was to go out there and get it done. It wasn’t an easy game. There were ups and downs. That’s a character win. It’s one win. We’re going to learn from it, it was great for the team, but we’ve got to keep going here.”"

Wilson is just two goals away from tying his career high that he set last season. With the way he changed his game to avoid discipline by the NHL Department of Player Safety, there’s no doubt he can shatter that mark soon.

Wilson joins Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie, and Jakub Vrana as the only players that have scored 20 or more goals, with Evgeny Kuznetsov needing just one more to join his teammates.

Wilson belongs on the top line where he’s gotten the most of his production and that Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Wilson line was the same line they used two years ago in the Stanley Cup Finals.
