Do you miss that horn sound Washington Capitals fans?

The one that goes off at Capital One Arena every time a Washington Capitals player scores a goal. New this season, the team allowed players to pick a song of their choice that plays every time that particular player scores a goal.

Some of the songs have fans signing along right out of their seats. Others are guaranteed to be stuck in your head for the foreseeable future even without hockey.

Let’s take a look at each player’s goal song and rate it out of five stars.

Nick Jensen

Nick of Time by AC/DC: This song is a good pun off of his first name. We haven’t heard this song play over the Capital One Arena speakers yet as Nick Jensen is still searching for his first goal. 3/5

Michal Kempny

Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind: Michal Kempny‘s original song was Mic Check by Rage Against the Machine but he recently changed it. He has three goals on the season so far. 4/5

Alex Ovechkin

Shake, Rattle, and Roll by Big Joe Turner: The oldest player on the team needs a song from back in the day, right? Alex Ovechkin‘s goal song was originally Still D.R.E. by Dr. Dre but a scoring slump caused Ovechkin to change it up in late December. Encouraged by the team’s senior writer Mike Vogel, Ovechkin picked “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” and we haven’t gotten it out of our head ever since. With 48 goals on the season, it’s a good reason why. 5/5

Brenden Dillon

Go Bang by Pnau: Newcomer Brenden Dillon went with this banger as we wait to hear it play over the speakers. He hasn’t scored a goal yet in a Capitals sweater but we can’t wait to see him light the lamp. 3/5

Dmitry Orlov

Numb by Linkin Park: Dmitry Orlov‘s original goal song was Oh Yeah which was a song you’d recognize if you’ve seen Ferris Buehler’s Day Off. He’s changed it since to Numb by the popular band Linkin Park. Orlov has four goals so far this season. 5/5

Jakub Vrana

Simon Says by Pharoahe Monch: Jakub Vrana’s original goal song was Slither which was a play on for his nickname “Jake the Snake”. He’s since changed it to a popular hip hop track from the ’90s. 4/5

Richard Panik

Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At the Disco: This is another pun on a name with Richard Panik‘s last name in effect. 4/5

Ilya Kovalchuk

Moya Igra by Basta: This is a popular Russian song for the newest Russian on the Capitals mob. Ilya Kovalchuk has one goal so far in a Capitals sweater but we have yet to see him score at home. 4/5

Nicklas Backstrom

Here I Go Again by Whitesnake: Nicklas Backstrom went with this 80s rock song on his phone because it sounds great in an arena and he personally liked it. Backstrom has 12 goals this season. Perfect. 5/5

Lars Eller

Eye of the Tiger by Survivor: During the 2017-18 season when we all found out Lars Eller had clutch genes we also learned his nickname was The Tiger which is naturally his spirit animal. He has 16 goals so far this season. 5/5

Garnet Hathaway

What is Love? by Haddaway: The fourth liner picked this song as a pun with his last name. This song is a great jam to dance to and it comes on naturally every time Garnet Hathaway scores. He has nine goals this season. 5/5

Nic Dowd

You can call me Al by Paul Simon: Apparently you can just call Nic Dowd Al with this goal song. He has seven goals so far this season. Dowd went with this song after he was introduced to it at his wedding reception. 4/5

Brendan Leipsic

Levels by Avicii: Brendan Leipsic loves his music and he went with this popular classic EDM song from Avicii. He has three goals this season. 4/5

Radko Gudas

It’s a Long Way to the Top by AC/DC: Radko Gudas loves rock n roll and is a big AC/DC fan. Besides Nick Jensen, Gudas is the other player who uses a rock legend as his goal song. He has two goals this season. 4/5

Jonas Siegenthaler

My Name is Jonas by Weezer: This is another pun off the name as it’s a play off Jonas Siegenthaler‘s first name. He has two goals this season. 3/5

Tom Wilson

Boom by Tiesto and Sevenn: This was a song Caps players jammed out to during their post Stanley Cup celebrations in 2018. Tom Wilson‘s original goal song earlier in the season was Whip It by Devo but he since changed it to this popular EDM track. He has 21 goals so far this season. 4/5

Carl Hagelin

Red Lights by Tiesto: This is a nod chosen by Carl Hagelin to what happens after the Caps score a goal, a red siren light coming on. Fun fact: Tiesto happens to be good friends with Alex Ovechkin. Hagelin has eight goals this season. 4/5

Travis Boyd

Let’s Go Crazy by Prince: Travis Boyd was born in Minnesota so naturally, he went with a Prince track who also happened to be born in his home state. 4/5

John Carlson

Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry: John Carlson is on a mission to win the Norris Trophy and he chose an oldie that played off his first name as we cheer him on. Go Johnny Go! 5/5

T.J. Oshie

Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver: T.J. Oshie‘s song choice is a popular singalong song easily recognized by Caps fans. When Oshie was given the aux cord on a team trip in late Ocober, he chose this song and watched as his teammates sang along. 5/5

Oshie talked more on the goal songs to Samantha Pell of The Washington Post:

“I think it’s awesome. I think it’s cool for the guys to express themselves a little bit and a way to get the crowd into it, and you know with what the Nats did with the one song in particular over there, I think it’s a cool thing.”

Evgeny Kuznetsov

Get Low by Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz: To the window, to the wall! Evgeny Kuznetsov went with a rap song. His choice was originally confused with How Low by Ludacris but he corrected it right away. 5/5
