There have been several Washington Capitals goals that made us jump out of our seats. We’ll highlight those here.

Now that the season is paused we at Stars and Sticks have been looking behind us as well as what’s ahead for the Washington Capitals. In this we’ll watch the highlight reel and relive the five best goals of the 2019-20 season.

These goals were selected based on the excitement they were when we saw them live. Let’s get right to it.

#5 A rip from Lars Eller

This was from Super Bowl Sunday in a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. One thing’s for sure, it was another big goal from Lars Eller where he did a killer toe drag move before ripping it in the back of the net.

#4 An Ovechkin hat trick plus sauce from Wilson

Skip ahead to Alex Ovechkin‘s third goal and you’ll realize it wasn’t the slam dunk by Ovi itself that made it to this list but rather the sweet no-look backhanded pass by Tom Wilson. It was the third time hearing Shake, Rattle, and Roll that night, Ovechkin’s goal song, which never gets old. It completed the hat trick, Ovechkin’s 25th which began a string of three hat tricks on his quest to 700 goals. After a tough loss to the New Jersey Devils just a few nights prior, Ovechkin led the charge in this revenge game.

#3 A sweet deke from Kuzy

What I love about this deke is it totally undresses Semyon Varlamov. Despite this game resulting in a loss on New Years Eve to Barry Trotz’s New York Islanders, it was Evgeny Kuznetsov‘s goal that was talked about. Of course no Kuznetsov goal is complete without the bird celly which he did.

#2 A curl and drag by Ovi

This came from a Capitals comeback win against the Islanders. The afternoon ended with another Ovechkin hat trick but this second goal of the game by Ovechkin is the one that is well remembered from the day. It was a curl and drag that had Ovechkin fall down but despite that was still able to get the puck across.

#1 Sweet move by the Oshbabe

The best part about this goal by T.J. Oshie was that he was a magician splitting right through two Boston Bruins defenders and then flips the puck backhanded to score his second goal of the night. Oshie was an impact player in a huge Caps win that December night and this goal easily gets goal of the year.
