#2 Nick Jensen

Nick Jensen has been the subject of criticism all season as the Caps defense struggled and never regained their good form if they even had any. Jensen was brought in for a cap hit of $2.5 million. After they traded for him last year they signed him right away. He makes the same as Michal Kempny but his term is just a tad longer.

Jensen had eight assists and no goals but he did have a hat trick once in our NHL 20 simulation if that counts for anything. The complicated thing about moving Jensen is he’s one of few right handed defensemen on the team besides John Carlson.

Jensen had good advanced stats. If you’re on the upper side above 50 percent that is considered exceptional. His Corsi For percentage was 54.64 percent. His Fenwick For percentage was 53.54 percent. His expected goals for percentage was 48.60 percent which is expected for a defenseman that hasn’t scored any goals and only contributed assists on the regular stat sheet.

Jensen had 71 blocked shots and 59 hits with 26 takeaways. His giveaways finished at 48. Like we said, while some fans want to trade Jensen it might be tricky since he’s one of few right handed defensemen on the Caps but they could trade him. I don’t think any defenseman is safe unless you’re John Carlson or Jonas Siegenthaler.
