#2 Scott Stevens

In 1982 the Caps drafted Scott Stevens with the fifth overall pick. He made the team in his first training camp and was one of their best defenseman throughout the 1980s.

Stevens had nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in his rookie season. His next year saw him score 13 goals and add 32 assists for 45 points. His third season saw him score a career high 21 goals and add 44 assists for 65 points.

In 1985-86, Stevens scored 15 goals and 38 assists for 53 points. The next year he added 10 goals and 51 assists for 61 points. After that he had 12 goals and 60 assists for 72 points. He had two more years left in Washington. His penultimate year saw him score seven goals and 61 assists for 68 points. The next year which was his final season in D.C. saw him score 11 goals and add 29 assists for 40 points.

In 1990 he signed with the St. Louis Blues as a free agent. He only spent one season there. He spent the rest of his career with the New Jersey Devils helping them win three Stanley Cups.

Stevens is a Hall of Famer and while he will be remembered for his time in New Jersey, he was still an impact player on the Caps.
