Washington Capitals draft Bogdan Trineyev in fourth round

The Washington Capitals were finally on the clock.

With the 117th pick in the fourth round of the NHL Draft, the Washington Capitals selected Bogdan Trineyev. Trineyev is a six foot three and 198 pound right wing that recorded 26 points with 12 goals and 14 assists in 36 games with Dynamo Moscow 2 in Russia’s junior league. He was ranked #76 by Future Considerations and #28 by NHL Central Scouting  for EU Skaters.

In the 2017-18 season, Trineyev spent time with the Dynamo Moscow of the U16, U17 and U18 teams scoring one goal. He also represented Team Russia in the U16 Juniors scoring two goals and adding five assists for seven points in eight games.

In 2018-19, Trineyev scored three goals with both Dyanmo Moscow U17 and U18. He had nine points and six assists in the U17 and five points and two assists in U18. He also played in the MHL for 23 games scoring a goal and eight assists for nine points. Internationally in juniors he scored three goals and one assist for four points in seven games.

In the 2019-20 season he spent time with the Dynamo Tver. He also spent time with Dynamo Moscow scoring 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 36 games. With Russia U18 in juniors he scored two goals and added three assists for five points.

This season he is playing for Dynamo Moscow and has four goals and three assists for seven points in seven games. The Caps have drafted another forward in this draft after selecting Hendrix Lapierre with their first round selection who plays center.

Will these two one day be on a line together? We’ll find out in a few years. In the meantime expect Trineyev to continue to play for Dynamo Moscow and develop his game.

The Caps will have two more picks left in this draft barring a trade. Their next selection comes in the fifth round at 148th.
