Top 3 Washington Capitals players you need to follow on social media.

There are plenty of Washington Capitals players that are good follows on social media. We’ll talk about the top 3 in a second. At first make sure you’re following the official Capitals social media accounts including @Capitals on Twitter and Instagram.

There’s another important account you gotta follow too and that’s the official team dog Captain at @CapsPup. He is a good boy for sure. He also won best team dog thanks to all of us showing up to vote. Crazy that it’s been a year since he was introduced to us all on the red carpet with Alex Ovechkin.

Even though the hockey season is over, Captain is still posting photos and videos quite frequently and he’s really grown! He will go to a veteran or first responder when his training is up but we hope he gets to reunite with his boys on the Caps first.

Now that we’ve talked about the official accounts and the team dog and oh yes let’s add Slapshot in there too. You can follow him @Caps_Slapshot. Now let’s take a look at the top 3 players you need to follow on social media.

#3 Jakub Vrana

You can follow Jakub Vrana on Instagram @jakubvrana and on Twitter @VranaJakub. He doesn’t tweet too much other than the occasional picture or retweet. He’s more active on Instagram. One time he posted a video on his story of him working out with Michal Kempny off the ice in the gym. We don’t know when exactly Kempny got hurt.

It’s been a while since Vrana has posted a picture on Instagram but when he does post something the girls will always bring their likes.

It is likely Vrana is staying off of social media or not going on it much as he hopes to improve on a breakout season that he had in 2019-20. This past season, Vrana had 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points including 24 even strength goals. If the season was finished there was talk Vrana could become a 30 goal scorer.

Unfortunately, his success during the season didn’t follow him into the bubble as Vrana was held scoreless in the playoffs. He also missed a wide open breakaway chance that could have saved the Caps season if he made it. Vrana will hope to be more clutch this upcoming season.

That is one player you need to follow. Here are two others.

#2 Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson is a social media butterfly. He is always posting pictures of him with his new dog Halle. Halle even has an Instagram account herself. You can follow Tom Wilson on Twitter @tom_wilso and on Instagram @tomwilson. He is definitely a good follow.

Recently Wilson shared a video slideshow of memories with Braden Holtby as a tribute after the goaltender signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks thus ending his tenure with the Caps. It’s emotional and you might cry.

Wilson also posts plenty of pictures of his dog Halle. She has really grown from some of the photos of them in the yard and one of them going down a hill and enjoying fall weather. Like Vrana, Wilson is also a hit with the female fan base while fans outside of D.C. don’t seem to like him. Some say it’s because of his hits but maybe they’re just jealous of his good looks.

Wilson had 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points this past season after a 22 goal season the year before. It’s good to see Wilson producing the kind of offense they expect a top liner too. He has grown and changed his game from being a goon to an impact offensive player.

#1 Alex Ovechkin

Although Tom Wilson is the biggest social media butterfly and rightly so, the number one player account to follow if you’re a Caps fan is none other than Alex Ovechkin. You can follow the great eight on Twitter @ovi8 or on Instagram @aleksanderovechkinofficial. He has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram and 2.6 million followers on Twitter.

Just released in gaming stores everywhere is NHL 21 with Alex Ovechkin on the cover. Ovechkin tweeted out a trailer of the hot new video game we can’t wait to get our hands on.

On Instagram there’s plenty of content of Ovechkin and his family which includes his son Sergei possibly becoming a hockey star someday. Look at that form on the backhand shots!

Ovechkin is still one of the most popular players of the NHL and is a popular follow on social media. On the ice he’s shown no signs of slowing down. This past season he had 48 goals and 19 assists for 67 points. In his career he’s scored 706 goals.

Ovechkin had a viral photo with Ilya Kovalchuk that came out around Christmas time as the two was having a holiday beverage and it predicted the future as Kovalchuk came to the Capitals. It would be cool if Ovechkin had another moment like that.
