The Washington Capitals had a rough 2019-20.
2020 produced some highs and a lot of lows for everybody. For the Washington Capitals, their play got bad at the turn of the calendar and only got worse inside the bubble. That prompted the team to fire Todd Reirden and bring in a more experienced bench boss in Peter Laviolette.
But Christmas is a time to give and the Caps gave us the greatest gift we could ever imagine when the reverse retro jerseys dropped. Fans all over the world were crashing websites, lining up at stores, and the like just to get their hands on the one of a kind, iconic screaming eagle design that the team will wear for select games this season.
We’ve seen the other team’s designs and they pale in comparison to the red beauty that the Caps will be sporting this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins one is even ugly but it’s white, an early indicator that the Caps will wear their reverse retros for at least several of the eight contests against their bitter rivals.

What’s even cooler is that we’ve even had a celebrity suit up in the reverse retro jersey. The original Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter! We’ve also seen players embrace the reverse retro look especially Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie. Alex Ovechkin even mentions how much he wanted the screaming eagle back.
So how has your search for one of these beauties gone? I’m sure some of you have struck out while others have been lucky to get their hands on one of these bad boys. If you’re looking locally, I know Sport Nation and Dicks has them as well as the team stores at MedStar and Capital One Arena. But they are all going super fast.
Maybe, just maybe you’ll be lucky to get it under the tree tomorrow. If not, there’s also ebay. But no matter how much you pay for it the jersey is worth every penny. It is a jersey we can wear proudly to games once Capital One Arena opens to fans again.
If you don’t get the jersey, or do, there’s also this really cool calendar you can get. We’ve also got a holiday gift guide for your last minute holiday shopping needs. We can’t wait for hockey to return on January 14 when the Caps open the season against the Buffalo Sabres. We’ll all be watching with anticipation.
