Merry Christmas Washington Capitals fans!

We all wish Washington Capitals hockey was going on right now. Thankfully with all of us with our families either in person or Zoom, we can all gather in quarantine to laugh ourselves off to some good movies. These flicks have nothing to do with hockey but it’s a good break away from the game.

These Christmas movies are some personal favorites of mine that touch on what the holidays are truly about. Speaking of Zoom, the Caps tried to give us a good Christmas and despite failing to sing still made us laugh.

I honestly don’t even know what was funnier, Evgeny Kuznetsov trying to keep things under control or Alex Ovechkin’s video from Russia still loading. Their best holiday card was in 2017 but hopefully next year’s could top that.

#3 Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights
The cool part about this film is that it touches on both Christmas and Hanukkah. While it doesn’t have hockey it does have basketball and Adam Sandler’s humor. Sandler plays a Jewish alchoholic named Davey Stone As part of punishment for his crimes that he made, he had to volunteer as a basketball referee. That is number three and I got two others to make you laugh.

#2 The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause is another funny Christmas film starring Tim Allen. Allen plays Scott Calvin who is an ordinary man who accidently causes Santa Claus to fall off his rooftop on Christmas Eve after he reads his son Charlie The Night Before Christmas.

What happened after the accident was that Calvin had to put on the suit and basically be Santa. This caused Charlie to have the night of his life as he would keep talking about it in school causing his mom and step dad to completely freak out and restrain him from seeing his dad.

Little do they know, Tim Allen’s character is Santa Claus after all and as a result two other movies were released. There is a controversial conspiracy theory that I don’t quite understand as I admit I still haven’t seen the third movie.

I did like the second one where Santa had to find a wife. That one was even funnier than the first one in my opinion. I even liked their “football game” that they played with both the real and plastic Santa.

Those are two good Christmas movies you could watch and now there’s one more to talk about and I promise we’ll go back to hockey.

#1 Elf

Elf in my opinion is the number one Christmas movie that makes you fall out of your chair laughing. The film is about an elf that is unlike any other as he is really a human. When he was an infant he snuck into Santa’s sack and the rest is history.

Will Ferrell plays Buddy the Elf who takes on New York City, meets a girl, his real dad, and his younger brother. Adjusting to human life is weird. It takes time for Buddy to adapt.

In the end, Buddy is counted on to save Christmas which required rebooting Santa’s sleeigh and some Christmas caroling. I won’t spoil anything else for you, just sit back, laugh and enjoy the show.

Those are my three favorite Christmas movies to watch and from this point forward I promise I’ll make my articles more hockey focused. This was just for fun.

We’ve got more content coming for you this Christmas that will be hockey related including players that would deserve coal on Christmas. We probably already know who we would pick already even though we haven’t started yet as of this writing.
