#2 Jaroslav Halak

What is the one goalie that makes Caps fans cringe when they hear his name? The answer is Jaroslav Halak, who definitely deserves coal on Christmas for life after he robbed the Caps of their Stanley Cup dreams a decade ago.

The Caps were the class of the NHL with their first Presidents’ Trophy before they ran into a trap against the Montreal Canadiens. The Caps had a three games to one lead but blew the series in seven games. A big part of the reason why was the brick wall they ran into with Halak.

Halak made 37 saves on 38 shots in Game 5. The next game he was even more unstoppable with a whooping 53 saves on 54 shots. That is just highway robbery. In Game 7 he made 41 saves on 42 shots to complete the upset and send Caps fans home depressed for another summer.

Halak at one time, as weird as it sounds, spent less than half a season with the Caps. That came in 2014 during the infamous Adam Oates era where the team missed the playoffs. It wasn’t Halak’s fault but it was overall a bad vibe.

Halak is now with the Boston Bruins. Hey at least he has something in common with Marchand.
