The Washington Capitals made it on FanSided 250 but should’ve been #1.
The Washington Capitals still got a respectable place, however, in the annual FanSided 250 that comes out every December. They ranked #168th overall including number three in the NHL.
FanSided 250 ranks the hottest fandoms in the country when it comes to sports and entertainment. It’s an elite group of 250 of the best of the best. The Caps also made it onto last year’s FanSided 250 but this year they were ranked even higher.

"“When Washington Capitals fans put on their favorite gear, they should know that they’re not alone. In fact, they’re wondrously not alone because Lynda Carter has proven herself to be one of the biggest Caps fans in the world. When Wonder Woman is standing among you, that’s how you know a fandom is truly awesome.”"
Third place still isn’t bad among NHL teams. Let’s take a quick look at the teams who beat out Washington. Unfortunately, the Vegas Golden Knights were one of them. I get that Vegas fans love their team but they’re still new to this whole hockey thing.
Number one is the Tampa Bay Lightning which I get because they just won the Stanley Cup. They honestly deserved it after all they went through the year before getting upset by the Columbus Blue Jackets after taking home the Presidents’ Trophy.
Caps fans, however, are still the best of the best. We are a loyal bunch that has been through a lot of playoff heartbreak. So when our team finally came out on top in 2018 we weren’t afraid to flex.
It is honestly a bummer that we won’t be back at Capital One Arena to begin the season but hopefully down the line if the spread slows down from the novel coronavirus outbreak, we will be back inside the building. Until then we’ll be rocking the red from the comfort of our own homes.
Caps fans also showed how awesome they were this past month when the reverse retro jerseys were on sale. Fans lined up outside MedStar Capitals Iceplex and Capital One Arena at the team stores to get their hands on this one of a kind jersey. It is one fans will wear proudly once the arena opens up again.
The Caps will open the season in Buffalo and then they’ll travel to Pittsburgh before returning home eight days from the season opener.
