The Washington Capitals got a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers in a game where they scored three unanswered goals. The win ended their road trip in the best way possible with a 4-1-0 record to the sweet sound of boos from the Flyers fans.

Nothing like a good victory Monday after a Caps win over Philly. Some early bragging rights before we see them again later this week with a home game against the New Jersey Devils sandwiched in between. Best part about the game tomorrow is we’ll see the reverse retro sweaters.

Before we worry about the Devils, let’s celebrate the Caps who rose to the occasion in their win last night over the Flyers.

#3 Ilya Samsonov

Ilya Samsonov faced a ton of shots from the Flyers last night. Yet he stood tall and only allowed one goal. He was given one of the Cobra Kai headbands with the other going to Nick Jensen as players of the game.

Samsonov made 36 saves on 37 shots for a .973 save percentage. He got the start after coming on in relief from Friday night’s game after Vitek Vanecek had a tough outing against the Boston Bruins. Samsonov’s record improves to 3-0-1 with a 2.45 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.
